Sorry but that was many years ago, hitachi drives are now one of the best drives. They are seriously under looked when compared to WD and samsung, both great drives but these hitachis are quieter and quicker !.

Voted cold though since it is cheaper at novatech and i prefer them .

Out of curiosity have you had a personal experience or just heard about it?

EDIT: These are only £60 delivered from SCAN if you have an AVForums account

I remember reading an article over at the tom's hardware site and the Hitachi drives came out tops overall so they must be fairly good

It seems they are, my friend needs a good fast hard drive for photo editing or some computer aided design work and his hitachi drive (1tb or 640gb) performs better than his WD and samsung f1. Reliability is about the same for every companies drive, this isnt worse and his hasnt failed yet after nearly 2 years so all good so far.

Yes I have, I had factory fitted 3.5" Deskstar and 2.5" Travelstar both failed catastrophically and amost overnight in around 13-15 months. I have WD drives that were bought before them and are still going strong after several years.

Just bought this, tried to save a pound by getting it from the novatech site but it would'nt go through, something up with the servers as it just sits there indefinately after clicking confirm order.
