Birthday gift idea plz for gf

Hi lovies
I am thinking of asking my gf to get engaged on her bday...can i give her an engagement ring as present or i have to give her a separate gift on top of it as well? plz tell me how things work, i dont know its my first time :-)

Where can i find a reasonable and economical engagement ring?

What gifts would u recommend?
