Welcome to the new generation of ultra-thin LED TV.
With a depth of just 29.9mm the UE40b7020 is little thicker than a typical picture frame. Also, with its built-in Internet widget platform, the Samsung UE40b7020 combines web with TV like never before. The system, developed by Yahoo, offers Internet access to news, weather, YouTube and Flickr, with more widgets coming soon. Connecting up couldn't be easier. Simply connect your wired or wireless system via the Ethernet system and you have Internet access. Once connected to your network you can also listen to music from your PC or even stream standard-definition video from it. Combine this with the twin USB ports for accessing information from other digital sources such as mobile phones or cameras and it quickly becomes apparent that here is a TV that's designed to work with the digital age and not apart from it.
Yet Samsung haven't stopped there. A huge investment in new technology has meant a better picture quality than ever before. "Mega" dynamic contrast pushes the boundaries to provide an even greater contrast between the brightest and darkest of images. Unique to the LED TV range is Samsung's Wide Colour Enhancer Pro. This covers the widest colour spectrum to date and offers the most realistic, rich and vibrant colour ever to be seen on a Samsung LCD-type TV. Added to this is Motion Plus which gives you 100Hz scanning for reduced motion blur and improved clarity. In short, the UE40b7020 doesn't just challenge the best, it sets new standards for picture quality.
As ever with TVs, the audio can't live up to the picture without a separate home cinema system, but the "Invisible" speaker system does combine with a separate woofer and SRS TruSurround XT to provide a punchy, crisp sound quality that's pretty good given the extreme thinness of the TV.
When it come to connections, the UE40b7020 comes with 4 HDMI sockets to match its Ethernet and twin USB sockets. There's also SCART and component for older, analogue sources you may have.
New technology has also reduced the power consumption on this set to a point where it's actually more efficient than a portable model of just a few years ago - so now you can have big screen entertainment with small power bills! The new design of this TV also makes it very light. Weighing in at less than 15KG, the UE40b7020 can be easily wall-mounted on close-fitting brackets that wouldn't normally accept the weight of a typical 40" LCD or plasma TV.
For glimpse of the TV of the future, you've seen it here first with the ultra-slim, net-ready Samsung UE40b7020. Prepare to be impressed!
