No and no

It is a very good price for a core 2 duo, although there have been laptops with the quicker T3400 dual core around recently for £10 more.

Guys, am looking to get my Bro a Laptop for his Birthday. Looking at spending around £350 and have found these as this: -

http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/42433...op-2-1-ghz-dua

There was a Dell in the paper yesterday at £349 as well.

Just wondering if you've seen anything around that price with a better spec that's all??

Thanks in advance.

I just recently bought a HP Laptop similar spec to this and ive gotta say its the worst purchase ive ever made. My old laptop is 8 years old now and is a lot quicker, easier to use and in many ways better because it hasnt got Vista for one! - so far ive had 3 things not work with Vista and ive had to keep my old laptop for these and that in itself is inexcusable.

Some of the software/security that HP also put on just really slows everything down, makes general useage a chore sometimes.

this is a good deal but not Hot, deal posted here has a Blu-ray drive, 250Gb HD, Web cam and 17" monitor for mere £30 more. Worth comparing

Who put that deal up?

To be fair, your deal does put this one in the shade a bit.

the T5670 has more cache and a faster fsb, whereas the T3400 will be more liable to bottleneck at CPU intensive tasks so a higher clock rate won't necessarily be an advantage

The one posted by you is Acer. This deal is for an HP. That should explain the difference. Good deal. Voted hot!

Tip for those who don't know, microsoft offering free windows 7 upgrade on vista pcs bought after 26th june, BUT relies on oem (ie HP) on providing the offer to customers, they did with xp - vista so should do with win 7

Blame the companies who make those things for not providing vista support, the only way microsoft could have helped is if they hadn't changed things, and that would have been ridiculous.
