I did a good few searches and couldn't find it - it barely mentions any of the varieties (well, only 4) or the end date....

Bah!

No, it hasn't (started 03/06/09), and no, it doesn't (ends 30/06/09).

Apart from being completey wrong, perhaps next time you see a deal you'd actually like to contribute something to the site, or would that be too much like hard work?

It's a shame that this deal is worse than their usual 3 for £4 deal on ales, but luckily Tesco are selling 4-bottles of Hen for £4 still.

This is a good deal for sampling all the foreign beers though - which I recommend doing, beats drinking the same old stuff in the garden this weekend

Out of interest, which ale would you buy, where a 3 for £4 offer would work out better than 3 for the price of 2? As far as I can see, this deal is way better for most ales.

Just a technical point : I wonder how Tesco apply the buy 3, get cheapest free ? eg if one bought six at say £1 £1 £2 £2 £2 £2 bottles (conceptually, just using varied prices to illustrate the concept) do I end up with £1 free from first 3, and £2 free from second 3; or are they all pooled and I get the 2 £1 free ? Would it depend on the order they were rung through the till ? which I could potentially control in store but couldn't buying online.

To be honest, of the 3 for £4 most people look at all the options and buy the one that isn't quirky (I'm looking at you, Blandford Fly!) yet costs the most. E.g. ESB (brilliant with steak). Hence I get along at 9pm and they're all gone, so I'm looking at saving pennies by buying three Marstons or Badgers, so actually you're right, the buy 3 get cheapest free is a better deal thinking about it.

You could just put them through as a separate transaction (the till staff are happy with this). However to get the most return from such a deal you should get all the products at similar prices.

no i can assure you (i work there) it gives you the best offer at the cheapest then 4th cheapest etc

so if items are £1,2,3,4,5,6

then the £1 and £4 items will be free

In my Tesco extra last week they were in TWO places in the store - ie a special display in one of their temporary/seasonal/display areas as well as the regular beers area. Confusingly at the time they had the 3for2 offer label in the special area and NOT in the regular area (presumably just a timing difference/staff issue) on the Bud Dark - I noticed as I was keeping them as a buy it store it item if my other purchases weren't going to meet the £40 threshold to save £4 voucher.
