If you have young kids and any valuables etc then put one of these on a room you do not want them in. I did and it worked perfectly. Easy to fit too.

Most of these are surprisingly easy to crack - you can usually (always?) press the buttons in any order on the fully mechanical ones. Which means that if it's ever clear which buttons have been pressed (check for fingerprints), you're in. The only protection seems to be that they tend to be made from matt-finish steel. I wouldn't use one as my only line of defence, but this is a good price otherwise.

Easy to crack? The odds of guessing the four digit code, even in any order are still 1:10000 arent they?

Don't bother

Very easy to crack, imagine my code is 4169. When you look at the buttons there should be the usual fingerprint greasy smudge marks on the numbers you have to press. The others should look pretty clean. Assuming it works the same as the one at work it doesn't matter which order you put them in so you'd go 1,4,6,9 and you'd be in!

yup, I second that from experience - even when there are letters included in the pin, it doesn't matter which order you press them - it's only 'ordered' so it makes it easier to remember!

Interesting, we have one on one of the doors at work, looks the same although probably different. I'll try what you say though and see if any sequence works. Although this one is set to about 7 character code, so not necessarily easy to crack. (i do know the code though, so can try)

Don't know of anyone cracking it so far, but most people want to break out of our work place, not in !

You're right, the one we have on a door at work will open with corrrect combination in any sequence, but as long as you can't make out fingerprints (or change the code often) then it's probably still quite secure, just don't use them on doors that need high security....
