Looking at buyging reasonably specd Graphics card for a 22" screen and I think this is the cheapest out there.... Has had pretty good reviews:

Consider the 4770, it's just been released, it's cooler and quieter because it uses far less power than the 4850. The performance and price are very similar.

have seen decent reviews of 4770. but most i see don't have a HDMI port and the prices seems to be around the £70.00 mark last time i looked.

i want a new card for about £85.00 max - any 4770s with HDMI ports you can straightaway recommend ?

and yes - i can "google it" or search, but its always handy to get another opinion!

HDMI ports are irrelevent as they'll come with an HDMI adapter for the DVI ports that can do sound as well (at least my 4850 did).

Scan have a 512mb 4470 for £72 ish. This has two DVIs but it's still a digital output, so with a DVI-HDMI converter you get no loss of quality!

There are some 4770 cards about but they tend to be about £80-£85 (most of the cheaper ones are pre-order), which is roughly the same as some factory overclocked 4850's (XFX HD 4850 XXX Edition). It's true that the 4770 uses a newer manufacturing technique than the previous cards (hence the unavailabilty due to issues with this process) but the 4850 is still marginally faster in most situations and now comparable in price - and you can easily get one. A 4850 with a good cooling solution won't run much hotter than a 4770 but will use more power - an issue if you have a lower capacity PSU.

The 4730 is about to be released which is basically the 4830 but with the newer GDDR5 memory that the 4770 uses - this is a stop gap card until the 4770 becomes more widely available.

Personally, I am looking at a 4850 similar to that in this deal (quite a few about) unless the 4770 drops in price or the 4730 costs less than £70 (I have an older athlon X2 so little point spending more as cpu will throttle a faster card).
