Ive seen this deal for a wee while , just cant make my mind up to buy it or not as for the 24" its £1050 with student higher education discount , i hear they may cut price futher on the imac so not sure if i should wait or not??

Also anyone know how long you have to wait for rebate?

If it's an iMac you’re after there will probably be a price reduction very soon, however if you wait too long you might miss out on the current offers. I waited until after WWDC and I am glad I did, as I’m sure you know the whole Macbook line was refreshed. This coupled with HE student discount, the iPod rebate, the printer rebate and the possibility of quidco is definitely the right time to buy any apple computer. You also get a free 3 year warranty through the HE student custom AppleCare scheme.

For your information -

The printer rebate ends 28/07/09
The ipod rebate ends 08/09/09

So Apple will probably introduce iPod and iMac changes after the back to school promo, but you never know and you would be guessing as to the exact date when that will be if at all.

If it's a big monitor you are looking for and wish to use OS X, have you thought about purchasing a Macbook and connecting it up to a 24" monitor - say a Dell for e.g.? This way it would be much cheaper for the same amount of specs in a "realistic environment" and you would have a portable computer as well.

I have the 24" imac and love it, glossy screen is a pain if you are using for work purposes though (graphic design etc)

I have a laptop , only reason i want one really is cause i like the look of them and to fit in with my modern home ....im not bothered about playing games on them or doing much else apart from using word etc and using the internet.

I know some think its expensive for what it is but yes i just want to pay for style if that makes me stupid then so be it ..lol

Cant seem to use Quidco if you get Education discount thats what quidco says on the site.

I heard that they might reduce the price of the entry level models of macs (including the 20" iMac).

I have a 24" iMac which I bought about three weeks ago and I absolutely love it!!

Hot deal. Yes there are rumours of a price drop, but probably not until the spec gets bumped which could be months away

Only if you're a uni student tho (in fact thats the only kind of student thats applicable to this offer I believe).

Dont know about free 3year applecare tho. Its significantly discounted (about 75% I believe) but not free.
