Good price for a 1Gb 4850, but would be worthwhile spending the £10-15 more for a 512Mb 4870 (when the offer comes around again of course):

EXPIRED - XFX ATI HD 4870 512MB Graphics Card £96.59 Today Only @ Scan

I have this exact card. Has a huge stock copper heatsink, overclocks pretty well. ATI's built in self-tuner will automatically overclock the card at a level it deems satisfactory too, taking out all the guesswork!

VGA? What sort of non-budget card includes VGA? That plus the fact that it's an unremarkable price for a 4850 makes it cold from me.

The memory on this seems to be at a slower speed than the sapphire vapour 4850 512mb you posted recently.

am i reading the specs right? and if so, would you expect much difference in performance between the 2 cards?

DVI ports can connect to both DVI, HDMI and VGA ports so using VGA instead offers nothing but the removal of the third digital output.

Three DVI ports apparently won't fit so 2 DVI and one HDMI is understandable.
