Free self-powered mini speaker with a 3 for £1 trial to MacUser magazine. Cancel within trial period and only pay £1, or keep subscribing for £17.95. At the very least, you get a nifty little speaker for £1!

I usually just cancel the DD and they take the hint that I've cancelled when they try to take the next payment, worked for me so far.

how do you cancel membership apart from cancelling dd
btw. how do you know if u get the speaker in the trial 3 issues

just called them today re: item, and they said it looks like waiting for stock but they'd call me back. will update when i get an answer. if nothing is arriving before the 3 issues are done, i'd ask for a refund lol.

they called me back left a message on my phone, said the speakers are out of stock as it's given to the first 200! now that is not on the advertisement so i am not happy ...

Sounds very dodgy! I got my 3rd issue today, haven't seen the speaker arriving yet.. may be i should cancel my DD and forget the speaker?

Just had a word with Customer Support, the Free MP3 Speaker is Out Of Stock and they would be glad to replace with alternative gift 'The Independent Guide to the iPhone' - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Independent-.../dp/190637208X (£8.99).

Not sure if its worth over the MP3 Speaker, but I just accepted it - something is better than nothing. Will cancel DD/contract tomorrow.

i called them and expressed that i wasn't too happy their ad was misleading because nowhere did it say stock limited to 200. i said i wanted to cancel the subs, and did so with my bank too.

yes i got that book too (havent had a look yet) which is not the same, is it?

and ... the ad is still up!

---just wrote them an email (generic email addresses on the site) cc the editor, to let them know the online offer is still there and can be misleading advertising.
