Why have multiple "chat" threads ?

Why?
I know its misc but if I posted 10 threads about the same topic in Misc they would be spammed so why not have an "official" chat thread created by a Mod which could be closed and restarted when it gets too big.

They did this with the Congratulations threads so why not the chat threads? I'm not anti-chat just anti-every-other-thread-in-Misc-being-chat.....

I dont think most start off that way, and to be honest the way the chat threads go alot of people dont want to be involved in it, maybe make a thread specific for certain members - lol

That's true and it works out that members post in certain chat threads and ignore others.
It would be a complete mess, if there was just one chat thread.
On the other hand gari, I see what you mean when a new thread is started everyday but it is exactly the same people who post in it; I guess it's because quite a few of them are pulled/spammed/ whatever ( I don't know!!).

I think thats where I have the issue where a member of the same chat group just starts a new thread for no obvious reason....

Some of them start out as (and specifically say in the title they are chat threads) and I think these should be lumped together rather than the ones that evolve into chat threads.......

How you would police it, I don't know....

Actually a chat forum would be a good idea but I suspect its not a priority as this is a deals site. However if that is the case why then allow lots chat threads in Misc?
