That's an absolute bargain if your PC takes PC4200. Voted Hot!

Hottest deal this week. Shame it is only the 512mb modules and not a similar offer on 1gb modules. Nice find.

Might be worth a mention that this is actualy PC2-4200 not PC4200 as the description states, still excellent deal for those that can use it.

this price is crazy, the only problem is laptops dont have enough slots for ram compared to a desktop. most laptops only have 2 sodimm slots so the max installed ram will only be 1gb. could be useful if you are upgrading ram on a netbootk.

Forgive my ignorance - my little netbook takes 1GB DDR2-5300 SODIMM and I'm not sure which bits of the deals reference numbers are relevant ... any advice appreciated. Regards Roger

I've recently acquired an acer aspire one netbook, which crucial's memory check states takes PC2- 5300 memory.

Does anyone know if this would go in the 2nd memory slot (even though it's only PC2-4200) to give 1.5Gb for a bargain price?

(apologies - question appears similar to the one above...)

Not sure about the clock speed but the 1Gb Aspire One has 512kb of memory hard soldered onto the board and a single SODIMM slot with a 512kb module.

There'd be no point in buying one of these as you'd just be replacing one 512kb module with another. You'd need a 1Gb stick to replace the existing module to max out the Aspire One's 1.5gb RAM limit.

The number you want to check mate is the speed. i.e. the speed of your RAM is 5300 and this speed is 4200. Unfortunately you can use RAM that is faster than yours but if you buy RAM that is slower i.e. this RAM it can cause various problems including BSOD.

SODIMM is the physical size of the RAM, mainly used for laptops.

Hope this helps
