I wouldn't say these were suitable for children if it is the same as the double popup one they do it falls apart very easily & has some very sharp wire in it which could do a child serious damage.

my little boy has a bob the builder one and he climbs all over it and never had a problem with it. very handy for toys

Don't know which one you have, but this one seems ok, looks pretty safe, can't see any sharpness etc.
