Seems like a good price for a decent CPU. A nice upgrade if you already have a 125W Capable AM2+ board. Free delivery is available on the item too, although delivery times can be hit and miss.

What would the experts recommend as best motherboard to go with this? Not interested in over-clocking, just reliable and maybe plenty of USB sockets! The MSI DKA790GX Platinum caught my eye but suggestions welcome.

Look at AMD770 based boards unless you want crossfire. AMD770's offer nearly all the performance but come in at about £50ish.

I have a gigabyte ma790xt-ud4p with my 955 and a 4890 (So called dragon platform) , very overclockable and the motherboards got a dual bios system , so if anything messes up it during an overclock automatically switches to default settings. Its also crossfire ready a native am3 motherboard so it supports ddr3 ram.

good luck mate you wont be dissapointed, putting in a graphics card at all? if your going for a 4890 make sure you dont go for a sapphire, get an xfx or something. My sapphire card wont hit 1ghz however equivalent cards will, maybe i just got a bad card.

its competes pretty well with the equivalenty priced i7-920 you can check out some gaming benchmarks by googling it, plus it has massive overclocking headroom if your using liquid. However compared with normal quad cores it kicks ass its the daddy of quad cores atm excluding the extreme and i7's.
