Digital transmission my ****. An 8Mbps real time modulator/demodulator would cost ten times this.

Nope, just the knowledge that these are limited to a maxium power [100mW if memory serves], use AM modulation for the video, which is inherently suscceptible to white speckles, signal fading by moving objects and wasteful in power, and send composite video, a poor choice for picture quality from even the cheapest modern source.

Because they all us the same fundamentally limited technology, they can be catagorically branded as crap, crap by design.

Spend on cables, it is the only way currently to move quality pictures to other rooms. Soon (in about 3 years) there will be digital wireless cable replacements, but curretntly you are looking at £800 for a distance of a few metres, so cable it and be done.

my mum isnt an audiophile or a technojunkie she simply wants to watch her sky box in her bedroom with out paying a subscription for it .......

its 17.99.....what do you want for this kind of money?

if the person who already has 1 of these can digress a little and explain whats he has been using it for etc etc it would be appreciated

I wan't something that will not make deafening hissy noises at midnight as the signal drops out.

As in my post these are all the same power limit, in fact probably use the same chips from China. This example is also sold as the Philex AV Sender. In fact the lack of positional antennas probably makes this particular model an inferior choice.

Do you think you could run a cable for £17.99?

Not to mention that these are 2.4ghz, so whenever you or the neighbours use the microwave it'll wreck the picture. Sure, nobody uses their microwave 24/7, but what frequency do 90% of wireless routers broadcast at or around? You got it, 2.4ghz.

Maybe 5 years ago there were decent, but I can see a half dozen wireless networks from where I'm sitting. I'd imagine most people living in urban environments have a similar number of visible wi-fi networks.

Not a good solution at all, unfortunately.

i didnt dispute it at all i said you are comparing 2 different products which you subsequently proved when you posted the hdmi thing for a thousand dollars!

if this isnt digital what is it exactly? analogue?

a cable isnt an option which is why i was looking for something like this which has a saving on the other similar products i can find....can you help me find something cheaper?

yes this isnt the best product for sending hi def transmisions etc but when my mum is in bed watching a 19" screen i dont suppose it matters for £17.99

i cant find that philex 1 for less than £30 either......dont bother posting 29.99 either

It's exactly what I described two posts above, VSB AM with FM audio.

casparwhite:

No matter how much you spend, they are all the same inside, and none of them work well, so no.

casparwhite:

It's not HD capable. It's not SD capable either. So £17.99 or £1.79 makes no difference.

casparwhite:

OK, my point was that these are all basically the same inside, price and brand irrelevant.

You PS3 and wifi use a digital transmission which has data protection bits and error correction code.
