She had 2 albums, the first did really well, the second not as well. So I guess this is the best of those 2 albums, and a desperate attempt to get sales.

I did find it funny that when she was being critisized by other artists and the public, it always seemed to be the lyrics 'I wish I was a punk rocker, with flowers in my hair' that got slated, because punks 'didn't have flowers in their hair'. People totaly missing the point of the song, yes it wasn't great, but if you're gonna insult it at least do it right.

According to Wiki she left her record label, hence the best of being released since they won't have any new material from her.

I think what most people thought was stupid including me was that verse too, Punks hated Hippies and I know what she was meaning was the musical revolution 69(Hippies) & 79(Punks) but by 69 the hippy movement was dying out and in 79 punk was getting more commercial/main stream, The song is full of stupid cliches, Also what really annoyed me was all the BS about how she was a struggling artist but could afford to set up a whole webcast and website.

She was as commercial as the Spice Girls. No doubt about it.

It just made me laugh when people like Chris Moyles would go 'Duhhhhhh! Punks didn't wear flowers in their hair!!!!!'. But as you say it was about her wanting to be a part of 2 massive movements in music.
