The contrast ratio is pretty bad and the resolution is 720p.

3 year warranty is impressive for the price, though.

The contrast ratio qouted is the static contrast ratio and is actually pretty good. It's not 1080p, but it will take a 1080P signal and even so the display is 1680 x 1050 which is quite nice when using it as a monitor.

Depends on what you mean by unknown. If you search foehn & hirsch on HUKD you'll find more detail about the company than you probably want to know. And if you never buy anything because it's an "unknown make" you're going to miss out on some cracking deals!
