A couple of bonus things I didn't expect have blown me away.

1. You can stream mp3/wma/ogg/playlists from your HD if you set up a UPNP server. I'm using MediaTomb on Ubuntu and its a joy.

2. Surprisingly, you can also pick from BBC listen again streams direct from the radio console. You can even fast forward/rewind/pause these with a time position indicator.

3. Another nice touch is the Reciva portal on the web. First you register to uniquely identify your radio. Then you can set up "My stuff" which is basically a favorites list of radio stations that then appears on the device itself. You can also set presets in the radio, but only 3 are available from the front panel button.

My two gripes are that the remote is pretty much useless since it is highly direction and seems to only work from within 1 metre. And a cold start takes 30 seconds+. A warm start from standby is quicker, but you're still not going to want to flick it on while the kettle boils.

However the alternative front panel user interface is obvious and simple. The data wheel has a nice quality feel to it and operates both as rotary and button select.

I think I'll be spending much more time in the kitchen from now on.

For the not-so-tech savvy out there, you don't need to have your PC on for simple internet radio/listen again, only your wireless router. For mp3 playback you have to have your PC on. This won't work if you only have wired internet - must have wifi.

So very very pleasant a thing that I will even forgive its pinkness (which seems less and less churnworthy). Recommended to all radio fans, especially to podcast or BBC listen again freaks like me.

Good spot and it is indeed a bargain. However it's been on before and has actually been cheaper.
