Ah I did wonder about this one being a problem with unlocking.
As for the out of stock, the buy button was lit up earlier so I assume they didn't have many left

Incorrect!

I ordered one of these a week ago from Phones4U! It arrives with the Virgin Sim in it, popped an o2 SIM in it on the off chance and it worked.

So they are unlocked ...

Actually "greyster" i think you will find Virgin is on the T-Mobile network not O2 as you have stated!
