Philips HTS8140 Home Cinema Sound Bar/DVD-CD Player Reduced to Clear £149.97 Instore @ Currys

Collected my brand new boxed Philips HTS8140 Soundbar reduced to £149.97 from Swindon Currys today. A few other branches locally to me have them reduced to £149.97 but they may be display models. Philips online price is £749.99. Cheapest online retailer is £550ish.

Not everyones taste being an all in one, but perfect for me as the missus hates wires! It also has an Ipod dock, USB port, HDMI, Comp, RGB SCart etc etc

Are these really a patch on a real 5.1 system? I'm in the market for surround sound but it seems to me it'd need to, well, surround something....

Currys are also doing the SRU8015 (Colour Screen) Learning remote control for £29.97, this normally retails at £99. If you do look for this though be aware that they are also selling the cheaper SRU8008 for the same price!!

They are really wide, in fact just over a metre and probably do not fit into regular TV units. But as this retails at £749 and this price is £149, do not vote cold as you do not like it, vote cold if you think its a bad deal/price.

This is very cheap, I have the samsung version, althought it does not compare to a full 5.1 setup, it is good if you dont have the room for lots of speakers. I use mine in the dining room mostly for music and its great for that.

They had these in my local 'price drop tv' shop a while back for about £100. Wish id picked one up now.
(dont even ask about the shop! everything else they sold was complete tat and it has since closed down!)

If you call your local Currys Shop, they are able to look at all the othe Currys branches in their 'hub' area. This is what I did and found a couple of stores with them in stock.
