Lake District Holiday help please! Accommodation reccommendations and websites!

Hi all, my parents want us to do a 'family holiday' in the Lakes in the October half term (not sure of the dates?)

I think they want to stay in the south area..

can anyone reccommend a cottage for 6 people (4 bedrooms) for £400? cheaper if possible?

Or even some good websites that can search via area, star rating, availability etc?

Try Langdale we stayed in a 3 bed house a few years ago which was a reasonable price, but as i did not organise it not to sure about details, but will try find out..
