It's a good discount, but this hotel is 2 minutes from junction 28 of the M1, so perhaps not as scenic as most would like for the Peak District National Park, which I don't believe this is in, merely a journey away. Here's a map for anyone interested -

Agree with you... it wouldn't have sounded quite so picturesque if they had mentioned it is nearer Mansfield than the Peak District!

Forget safari park trips and visits to National Trust properties while you are there. Instead, you can see the Mansfield Massive at first hand

Just to say we live in the Derbyshire Dales. South Normanton isn't in the Peaks and its not somewhere you would go for a break - its a bit of a hole really (sorry). J 28 is an incredibly busy junction with queues morning and evening, and long term roadworks ensuring lots of standing traffic...

My ex used to use the gym of this place - it's definately not Peak District!!! It's opposite a conference centre and is in the middle of a busy commuter route.

I live 1 mile South of the Peak district. Junction 28 is about 25 minutes away, so you're in the right area, but not on the doorstep. You need a good 30 minutes to get to chatsworth House or Haddon Hall from J28, but to get to the real good stuff you need to go into the High Peak district, which you're a good hour to hour and a half away.

Bakewell is probably a better base to stay, with great access to the Peak District, and plenty of pubs and places to eat locally in the evenings.

Hope it helps someone.

Bladdy 'ell Cher! I always thought you lived in Hollywood! Me dreams shattered as I realise now that the iconic Diva lives near Alf'tun ... Pinx'tun and Sahth Nahmun'tun!

The Eastwood was lovely set in acres of private land, had a bottle of champagne left in the room, the meal was a choice of 3 courses of which I had poached salmon and crayfish to start, lamb shank for main and help yourself to deserts/cheese so I had lemon torte and then Stilton after... There was a pool, jacuzzi, steamroom and sauna...a gym, 2 snooker tables etc... Breakfast was buffet but they had everything you can think of and plenty of it... The evening meal is normally £20 per head so u do the maths!

No but have you seen the latest reviews on trip advisor, doesn't seem like much has changed. I've got 2 nights booked from Monday but I'm seriously tempted to cancel it going by what the most recent 3 reviews say.
