Scrappage deals currently available - For example VW Golf 1.4 @ £9995 (Save £3590)

FOUND BY: Mentos 6 months, 23 hours ago

Hi, taken advantage of a few deals on here so thought I'd share the results of my research while finding a new car for my mum.

I found the following site listed the best scrappage deals on most vehicles all in one place: With a few of them above the standard dealer offers.

http://www.arnoldclark.com/scrappage-scheme/

The ones that stood out were:

VW Golf 1.4 from £9995 (£3590 off, standard VW scrappage deals is £10,335, £3250 off)
Seat Leon 1.6 from £9990 (£4000 off)
Ford Focus 1.6 Style 5 Door £10,995 (£5200 off)
Peugeot 308 1.4 VVTi Verve £10,488 (£5200 off)
Meganne Hatch 1.6 Dynamique £11,995 (£4100 off)

Another good site is:

http://www.autofindersbakewell.co.uk

They do scrappage ontop of some of there offers (select more info on the car you want and further down any scrappage avaiable is listed). For example:

VW Golf 1.4 from £9995
Audi A3 1.6 from £12245 (£3020 off)
BMW 116i ES From £13,795 (£3,385 off)
BMW X5 xDrive30d SE £32,995 (£7,780 off)

Deals Achieved by HUKD members (PM me or post in the thread if you want to add your deal here):

Renault Clio 1.2 Extreme (75HP), £6,500 (RRP £10,000, save £3500) - Mr 5 in 1

Audi upgrade the TDIe to the SE with no extra charge. This is available with scrappage, although not sure if its available ontop of the Autofinders deals. Credit to CrazyMonkey.

Even if you don't want to buy from either of them, its a good reference point, rather then trawling the web as I originally had to.

I bought from my local dealer, but by quoting these prices I managed to get them to match the prices. Its a quick way around the "we're making no money of this, there's no room to move on the scrappage deals" line you normally get.

Good luck, hope it comes in usefull to someone.

NP, got a few deals of here so thought its only fair I contribute. Went through so many sites before I figured out these pretty much listed all the best prices in one place.

In many of the cases you are right about second hand prices. The Golfs are a good example. Ultimately the second hand dealers/private sellers are relying on non scrappage customers and the scheme to end. I tried and none of them would bother even trying to compete.

Also most of them said although the scheme runs for some time, most expect the funding to finish mid/end October. Since alot of people are buying the smaller cars, where the £2k makes a big % difference. Although I would normally take what dealers say with a pinch of salt, in this case I'm inclined to believe them to an extent.

Finally a good post!!!!! HEAT AND REP Given, due to the fact someone has the balls to list this lol

Anyway it is very likely that I can get a scrappage discount as I have a 10 year old car lol - that i have had for year near 10 years.

Has to go and I need an Auto... any recomendations would be very helpful. I do have a full manual license but I am getting to old and fed up to bother with the manuals anymore.

I would really appreciate everyones comments on this matter... good or bad....

I would like a Golf OR Seat Leon either is fine with me. OR an A3, but they are far to expensive for my liking.

Well to be honest - i've got an auto diesel Audi (a4) - and don't find it to be anywhere near as economical as my dad's manual. - I would say at least 5-9 mg

- So if your going just for economy - go for manual, if you really can't do without an auto. It depends, generally bigger cars (size + engine capacity) are more desirable as an auto, so hold the residual values better and some smaller cars are more desirable as manuals likewise holding more of their value when you come to sell.

God look at the time - I need help

I ended up going for a Hyundai I20 Diesel 1.4 comfort trim with nearly £1000 of extras for 9k after scrappage at the weekend. Have to wait until October to get it though. I hope I got a good deal - I know hardly anything about cars

It's odd how VW claim DSG is faster at changing and say so on their stats, but when it comes to proper reviews, they're slower than manual.

Unfortunately, Automatics are more expensive and use up 20% more fuel, in today's world, that's silly.

I reckon the poster may posssibly have been referring to Arnold Clark. Good deals but woeful customer service (in my opinion).
