Guys, Its a very smart phone and does lots of things etc etc. My mate can control his Slingbox with his from the garden using the Wifi with his 3GS.

But its a lot of money. I am sure that it is 'Hot' and cannot be found cheaper but surely in these times that money can be put to better use elsewhere?

O2 have the monopoly currently, not sure when it ends, though other networks, such as Tmobile, are reportedly also offering them to their customers.

I assume you can do that with the iPod touch though as I doubt it uses the phone function? For £400 less...

It's not BT, it's O2 (no longer part of BT) who have the exclusive rights to sell it. It's likely Orange and others will (T-Mobile?) may start selling in the UK from Sept/Oct.
