EXPIRED - VIRGIN MEDIA: XL TV, 10Mb BroadBand, Unlimited Phone, Free V+HD, Free Installation - £46p/m for 12mths

£46.00

-39°

FOUND BY: CKEBROWN2212 7 months, 1 week ago

STARTS: 10/08/2009   EXPIRES: 31/08/2009

Just received this latest leaflet from Virgin Media, and for once it actually seems a good deal compared to Sky.

Free V+HD Box (normally £49)
Free Installation
TV XL (160 channels - NO Sports/Movies included)
Free ESPN
Broadband 10Mb
Free Wireless G router
Phone Line Rental
Free Anytime calls (01, 02, 03 up to 60mins)

(plus can add an extra Virgin multiroom box for just £5 without any installation charge)

Original Price quoted on the phone was 53.95 (1st 6mths) - however mention this is more than you pay for Sky and they will reduce this to £46 per month for the full 12 month term! or £51 per month for all this plus multiroom (still with free installation and basic Virgin box! when all installed together at the same time)

We were paying over £41 per month for Sky+, 3mixes, mid-broadband (now capped at 10Gb p/m), phone line rental + unlimited call plan... so to go HD and multiroom for £10 more per month seems a good deal!

Virgin were recently (and I think you can still haggle to get it) the Triple XL for £49. That was all of this but with 20 mb broadband for £3 more. And also, throughout the Christmas period they were giving a whole 3 months free! I suppose in some cases though, this is a good deal if you want to save £36 a year on having half the broadband.

I think you should also edit the fact that multiroom box has to be installed at the time of V+ to qualify for free installation. Good find though, but there's better offers out there.

I'm currently paying £38.50 for almost the same, except I only have the standard phone package (don't even use that).

I get the exact same service as in the OP but for £38 per month, a deal I hammered out with with them last year when I threatened to go to Sky. I won't vote cold as it's a reasonable deal I think to start with but you'd want to improve the deal once that contract ran out.

It doesn't have as many HD channels as Sky so if that's important to you it may be an issue but IMO Virgin offers far better services than Sky to make up for it. Their on demand service alone is worth choosing Virgin over Sky IMO. Customer services would be better if it were over here but they've always been good to me. I rang up last week for a new remote control (after I battered mine a bit too hard on the leg instead of just changing the batteries resulting in a remote in several bits :-S ) and they had one out to me in two days at no charge. Whenever there has ever been any kind of a fault with the service a quick call to customer services results in £10 off of the next bill.

I'm only £34.50 at the moment, XL TV with V+, 10mb Broadband (you really don't need any faster even for playing games etc), and weekend calls only on the phone. Got the HD box free recently and got a free router previously.

A very good point wpunter, I switched from Sky earlier this year and I have been very impressed by V's On Demand and other services. As for HD, 4 more channels appeared last week, & I suspect that with free footie coming up, ESPN HD will rarely be off in my den!

I have recently got a router free from virgin and it is ok and its a belkin.
i quite agree that you do not get as many HD channels as sky but find there broadband very good only on a small package myself. as dont use it very much only to surf net and for PS3.

I just left VM! after 5yrs total service, of which were 3 good years when the service was still Telewest and 2 dreadful years after Telewest was bought by VM. I will never go back no matter how cheap their service is.

BTW, did you read VM 2Q report? just 5300 new customers, 45000 new customers last year 2Q. They are very worried and will give some good offers within the next months to get new customers. Don't sign up now, wait for the cheap offers.

Just phone up and haggle with virgin, I get all the above with the 20mb Broadband and unlimited free calls for £49. I was with sky once but would not go back. If you have a problem you have an engineer within 2 days, they also arrange morning or afternoon. The best bit was when the engineer gives you his direct mobile number if you get the problem back. More HD channels are planned. Voted hot.
