These bulbs were away from the main stock, spotted them by chance, no idea if they are marked up for the same price in the electricals dept.

Good deal but I'm more interested in the "BOTTOMS" you spent £5 on. What's that all about?

I bought a load of these in Asda in Poole a couple of months ago, just before we caught the ferry - they were on a random aisle end opposite the checkouts. I'd gond in for some juice & sweets for the kids, came out with a couple of dozen GU10s. You should have seen the smiles on their faces.

Looked in Doncaster when we got home and can't find them, so I don't think it's national, that was why I hadn't bothered posting it.

I think the deal is for the cost of the replacement bulb, not the ongoing cost of the energy to run it. Undoubtedly it would be cheaper to not buy one and sit in the dark, but for those who have a need and use for 50W GU10 halogen bulbs, 10p can only be hot.

There will be more deals like this coming along I'm sure, LED bulbs in the same package as a GU10 halogen will become more popular.

Yes but they can also use 35w bulbs on the same fixings...

Unfortunately LED bulbs have a fraction of the light output - hopeless (and expensive).

They sound much like the energy saving bulbs, do they also have the delay between switching on and lighting up?

No, different technology. Light up immediately but in a GU10 (normally 50W) I doubt they put out more than 5W. Decorative but no good for lighting.
