i wouldn't touch HP with a barge pole, their customer service if lowsy. I bought 2 HP's and within 18months both developed dead pixel lines HP didn't want to know.

I've had a HP for nearly two years now, and I found their tech support chat system very useful, getting on to talk to someone within minutes, and when my laptop developed a fault (one of the infamous Nvidia GPU faults i believe), they collected, fixed and returned the item directly to me within 4 days.

After 18 months, unless you have extended warranty, its the norm to expect them to not repair the item, its out of warranty, and dead pixels are considered by all companies minor unless there is a large number/clustering of them.

So If you bought a TV, washing machine, fridge.. anything electrical you would complain 6 months after the warranty ran out? Don't want much do ya!

I snapped up that deal. Love the laptop. Although the battery is annoyingly loose. Doesn't disconnect, just rattles around a bit.

Depends. If you need the extra HDD space and memory and aren't competent enough to fit it yourself then you'rr right it is a better deal. If you were to buy the laptop in the OP and some extra memory and a new HDD then I reckon you could get a 320GB HDD for that price.

Companies always do this. They rack up the figures to make the item look more appealing. Personally I wouldn't go anywhere near a machine with an AMD CPU at the moment. The Intel Core range is just too damn good. Having said that though the Toshiba does have an ATI graphics chip which would probably be better than the Intel X3100 in the HP but to be honest it shouldn't make a difference unless you're playing games on the thing.

Seems a good offer, main thing is a reasonably decent CPU. It would be great for basics but not gaming. Great price. Hot.
