I paid over twice this price for one last year.

Appreciably dimmer than conventional bulb that they replace, but less energy and likely to last longer.

Got some of these the last time at Lidl.

If they are the same? and I think they are. They give very poor light. Ended up ditching them. Only useful as low level background light.

I used the 66 LED units from Germany for my new kitchen downlights and quickly ditched them for the 7 watt CFL GU10 from Tesco. Reliabilty is a big issue when using several LED's in series. Manufacturers often quote the life of a single LED!

These are useful for mood lighting, pictures, decorative use etc.

My local Sainsbury (Wrexham) had a alot of lamps reduced by 75% including LED, 2 function (flourescent stick with integrated LED) etc so may be worth a look when out shopping in your local Sainsbury.

If yuu want to save electricty and have decent light levels, wait for Tesco to do the GU10 compact flourescents on BOGOF i.e. £2.49 each.

Are you sure that they are LED and not just cheap Halogen?

I did wonder whether some / all of the LEDs are in series. In which case reliability reduces by a factor equal to the number in series, but even then it could be better than Halogen.

I may try the compact flourecent GU10, has anyone tried a CFl replacement for MR16 12V fiting ?

That's standard halogen bulbs, not GU10s. Those are also on offer in Lidl from Monday.

I picked up some of these the last time they were bogof and i have been impressed, good amount of light, even compared to standard GU10. Thing is catching them when they are bogof. At a fiver a piece it's just too much to pay.

Good price but they are not meant as replacements for conventional bulbs. These will be very low lumens (a measure of the perceived power of light). These are the equivalent to 8-10 watts as a conventional bulb, no more.

These use 5mm LEDs which don't have the best reputation for long life and colour reproduction over time. I'd suggest you'd be better off buying CFL or conventional bulbs over these.

GU10 compacts makes your chic light fittings look like a builders @rse!

LED are great in some uses they are not the same as the Poundland bulbs they are VERY cheap to run the better the make the better the bulb
