As above said.. won't let you load an alternate OS on the new PS3 slim. But that said, if you're not wanting to use the PS3 as a computer too, then I would go for the slim version.
Personally though I hope that the cell processor gets unlocked at some point so we can use the full capabilities on the "old" PS3 model

This is a good deal. Lets not forget that the Slim does not add any new function, so if you're happy with the old design you can get three newish games and a blu ray for 15 quid on top of the price of the Slim. If you traded all or some of this stuff in the price would be even cheaper. I'm personally going to wait around for a bit, but this is no doubt a good deal and I don't believe the big ps3 will get any cheaper.

for me this is a good deal. the 40gb extra space means nothing to me given that I would rip out the hd and replace with something bigger anyway.

im so tempted to get one of these, being eyeing them up for a long time and since i will use it for linux i have to go for the old model.
