SONY KDL40S5500 40" LCD TV 1080p HD Ready & Freeview @ Richersounds for £549.95

Plus Sony Bravia tvs now come standard with a 3 year warranty.

The Sony KDL40S5500 offers Full 1080p HD Ready compatibility at a top value price.

At the heart of this 40" Full HD Sony LCD TV is a group of picture enhancements that makes for top quality vision. As you'd expect, the Sony features a 1080p, 6.2 Mega Pixel resolution screen with 24p True Cinema - for picture scanning as smooth as the movies. Little needs to be said about BRAVIA as its reputation for vivid colour, low noise and smooth motion precedes it. The BRAVIA ENGINE 2 featured here has four extra image processing stages and full digital signal processing. The result is superb contrast levels, natural, life-like colours and crisp detailing.

In terms of the sound quality, the KDL40S5500 uses the most basic Sony audio system. This does without the S-Force Front Surround and Voice Zoom of more expensive models but does still have a digital amplifier and Steady Sound. Steady Sound equalises the volume between programs and commercials for a more consistent and relaxing sound level.

From the company that brought you Blu-ray, you can not only expect the best picture compatibility but also the right selection of sockets to connect it all up. Clearly, Sony understands HDTV, which is why this new 40" 1080p Sony LCD features three HDMI sockets. The Sony KDL40s5500 also includes the full range of analogue sockets you'd expect including two SCART, component and PC inputs.

Other fantastic features include a USB socket and Picture Frame mode. Simply load up your favourite photos and show them on the TV - just like a, very large, digital picture frame!

Smartly styled with Sony's usual subtle touch, the KDL40s5500 makes a tempting choice.

Good deal! Confused though as you have Amazon in the title and the link takes you there, but you have Richer Sounds references too. Also, I can't see that Amazon are offering a free cable so maybe that is Richer Sounds? thinking:

Is this really a good deal, I could have sworn my ex girlfriend got a Sony Bravia 40" from currys for about £450 6 months ago. Certainly wasn't over £500.

If Sony are currently giving you up to £200 for your old TV, does this work out cheaper at the Sony Store or Price Matched against at John Lewis?

No I was looking on saturday, sony is £100 off a 40" and they sell this TV for £750 which takes it down to £650 which means with this you save £100 and keep your old TV still, also 5 year warranty is available for £55 extra.

I know this is 2" smaller, but its £20 more than the Toshiba Regza 42" (AV)

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Toshiba-42AV...ta/B0020HR6PI/

What are the positives/negatives between the 2 TV's.
