3 nights in HK is pointless unless you are goinf somewhere else afterwards
pataya - hmm - i like phuket but Pattaya - no thanks

I have corrected their summary

Pattaya is Thailand's most established dump offering something for everyone...nudge nude wink wink. This lively resort has developed into Asia's playground (xxx), renowned for its sandy beaches, vibrant nightlife, dodgy women/men/hybids, women with their special magic tricks and drunks. The northern part is the quiet area of the resort while the southern part is hustling and bustling, where both sides of the street are lined with shops, restaurants and nightclubs and ladies of the night (use the crocodile dundee technique to check they are women though). You may even find famous people there like gary glitter...oh,maybe not.

The Metropark Hotel Kowloon is a very reasonable hotel - stayed there for a couple of weeks in June this year.
Quite good location-wise -- near most markets and shopping streets although 10 minutes walk from nearest MTR station. Very polite and helpful staff, excellent food if you go to the in-hotel restaurants.

Have to agree with 3 nights in HK being pointless though, but good price for what you get. Shame it's not nearer Christmas though - would rather go out in December. Hot from me.

Stayed at the Metropark a couple of times on stopovers to Oz, is fine as a base, easy walk to the night markets but a bit away from anything else. there is a hotel bus that runs down to the harbour and back.

Just as an aside this hotel was called the Metropole and it's claim to fame was the first recorded case of Sars outside mainland China.

We have always upgraded to the executive floor to get the free drinks and finger food in the early evening.

ah-ha, I was thinking it had been renamed, I have stayed in the metropole after the SARS outbreak, it was a good hotel, the staff in the metropark hotels are always outstanding, I felt the ones in the metropole tried even harder to overcome their SARS reputation

I would defo stay there again

Although the MTR is a little way away, I would say its certainly walkable well within 10mins, even if walking slowly in high temps

But remember taxis are cheap - good tip for the lazy amongst us
