Tell me about it, I need to call Logitech and see if I can fool them into sending me a replacement.

I have two of these - great if you get RSI in your wrist, mine went away immediately on using these.

Usually much more expensive - hot.

My MX700 was rendered unusable within 2 years and I have been unable to find suitable replacement batteries. Tried matching the spec exactly but the cradle won't charge them. Also tried some much higher capacity AA's using an external charger but the mouse does not operate.

I bought a different model, the 8000 and was dissapointed at how stiff the mouse wheel was to roll but also to click, wonder if these are the same?

Is this the issue with the green charging light for about 5 seconds, then rapid red?
Despite there being no obvious dirt, I cleaned the contacts in the cradle and on & in the mouse with some meths and then the batteries magically started charging after that. I'm fairly certain that I just used generic NiMHs from maplin, but can check when I get home if needed.

They have a soft roll - ie. it's easy to roll - but the click is quite hard. That's not a bad thing in my book as I don't use it much.

It's so long ago I can't remember It's in the cupboard next to my desk though so will have a look. Would be interested to know what mAh batteries you used, I have tried cleaning the contacts before.
