Might have been good for a Netgear ReadyNAS but this drive does not appear to be supported.

It was a name given to an old IBM Deskstar hard drive due to its alarmingly high failure rate.

I have one of these Hitachi's and it it's pretty good.

Good HDD but very noisy compared to Western Digital or Samsung.

The Death Star is a fictional moon-sized space station and superweapon appearing in the Star Wars movies and expanded universe.

About 7 years ago IBM had a bad batch of HDD's

since then they have been fine however the name 'deathstar' has been remembered. The drive will be fine.

obviously there is a chance of a drive failure as with any hdd you buy.

The Deskstar drives are fine now, it was just back in the day they had a high failure rate. However, as you can see, the bad memories stick.

OP should mention that this is £54.74 delivered unless you add something like a cable or a mouse mat to take you over the £50 free delivery threshold.

You can add this £0.35 mousemat bringing the total to £50.30

http://www.ebuyer.com/product/32496

but then you might as well buy something you actually want

Personally I have had nothing but bad experiences with Hitachi Drives, I never had any problems with the old IBM ones but every Hitachi Drive I have had over the last 5 years has failed that includes 3 2.5" laptop drives that came in the laptops, presumably because they were the cheapest supplier and 2 desktop drives. In that time I have had several Maxtor, Segate and WD drives and not a single one of those has failed. So to my mind Hitachi are the low end of the hard drive market. Having said that it seems Seagate have had their fair share of problems recently with their 1.5TB drives so I wouldn't trust those either at the moment.

Everybody has their own horror story about drives failing as e very brand will have some failures but the only one I trust at the moment is WD.
