Just thought I would post this in case anyone was thinking of upgrading to the new machine by trading in a Fat PS3 or if any Xbox owners out there were thinking of switching.

I think I might updgrade as I only hve the 40gb and constantly run out of space, I know you can do your upgrade of a HDD but I like the look of the new one.

Here is what you pay based on what you trade in:

PS3 80/160gb - Half Price £125.00
PS3 40gb/Xbox 360 Elite - £139.99
Xbox 360 60gb Pro/Nintendo Wii - £149.99
Xbox 360 20gb (HDMI) - £169.99
Xbox 360 Arcade - £179.99
Xbox 360Core - £189.99
PS2 Slim - £224.99

You might be able to get better trade-in/cash fro some of the above, however for me on the 40gb PS3 I think this is the best I would get.

Got to be the biggest con. What you spend £300 on a PS3 originally, trade it in to get £125 off a new one. That does the same thing. Is it really worth it??? I think not. I'll stick with my 60gb that plays PS2 games etc.

I vote game is conning with low trade price.

unless you really need the space and REALLY like the look of the new one, its surely better to just upgrade the HD? mine is now 320gb at a cost of less than £50.

Looks like I got it wrong on this one, just thought I would post in case it helped anyone, maybe this will be in the running for coldest post of the year if it continues at this rate!!!

Don't understand why peole have spammed it though, no need for that unless someone else has posted but I couldn't see it anywhere when I searched.

i just checked CEX, and they are offering £126 on a boxed 40Gb PS3, £144 on the 80Gb. Thats cash, not trade in - trade in is £157 and £180 respectively. and Gamestation will guarentee to beat that, so this really does seem like Game ripping off on trade ins.

That sounds good for 60gb (although I suppose some might be reluctant to give up backwards compatibility), are they doing anything for 40gb and if so do you know what the deal is??
