Spark help needed changing light switch

Hi HUKD's
I've got a new dimmer switch (Stainless Steel) with a strange symbol, L1, L2 and a seperate earth connection.
Problem is the old one (non dimmer, the old white one ) doesn't have an earth connection and there are 3 red wires 2 of which go into the COM and one wire going to the L1 connection.
Can I assume that there are no connections going to the earth connection and that the 2 wires go into the connection with the strange symbol( a bit like a tilde) ?

also run a small length of earth wire between the earth connection on the switch and the earth connector in the backing box.

best if you connect backbox to front plate with piece of wire for earthing if u got insulation between front and backplate
