EXPIRED - Free 02 money prepaid Visa card

166°

FOUND BY: brandonheat 2 months, 3 weeks ago

STARTS: 30/08/2009   EXPIRES: 30/09/2009

Offered through the Natwest bank, these prepay cards act just like debit cards, except with no link to a bank. You can only spend what you have loaded on them through topping up or direct debit payment, thus you cant go into debt and end up paying charges or interest. The card itself is free to o2 phone customers and can be used in all shops and sites that accept visa.

use instead of money or if you need to use on a site that could be dodgy, thus protecting your real cards details.

get texts telling you how much is left

other cards cost money to top up or just to join. this doesnt (assume you would be charged for topping it up in a shop, thus always just add by direct debit)

Catches: UK use only
No atm functionality
o2 customers only
does not offer credit card protection on purchases (section 75)
does not offer any perks, cashback or rewards that some credit cards offer

if anyones used one of these plaese let us know what you think

I got one of these last week....awesome...free card, free to load up and no transaction costs for card purchases.......

all the others charge you an admin fee for the card and/or a percentage of the purchase price of each transaction....either that of you have to pay a monthly charge....

O2 one is totally free to use in the UK

I assume you can use this onine? If so, is it equivalent to a Visa debit or electron card?

might be safer to use online than my bank card

Yes, I use it online to limit any loss if my card details get compromised. I usually put about £50 on it at any one time or if there is a large purchase I want to make then I put that amount on the card with a few extra quid then use the card to buy online.

It works the same as any other VISA or MASTERCARD debit/credit card...its the same payment system they all use.....

All I use the Paypal card for is on line payments so I pay no additional charges, but I would never use it to withdraw cash for the reason mentioned above.

It is accepted at a lot more places now than it was to begin with, so for for me it is fit for purpose.
