i know but they have been refurbished by xfx themselves and include warranty. Been waiting for price to go down. Everywhere else is £110+ for 1GB version

That's actually a good point, plus in most cases it's a manu' or tranist problem on returns. If it's an unviable fix then they won't be repaired OR offered under warranty.

Just my 2 cents...

XFX + Refurb = No thanks, their cards are crap when they're new.

EDIT: Also you should state it's a refurb/pre-owned in the deal title and description!

Had an XFX 6800GT, 7800gSomething and now on an 8800GT as well. All worked flawlessly, only issue I ever had was traced back to a duff PSU. Mind you I've lost 5 maxtor HDs and only one other ( a 5 year old WD), yet some swear by them.

My Dell 305W PSU just about ran it although it was under constant strain (fitting more than 1HD meant it wouldn't boot).

Now got a 460W CoolerMaster one now and its much better. It's not really about wattage anyway, you'll need a decent 12V rail on the PSU.

And what do you think a refurb involves?
They clean it up, plug it in and see if it works, and at most replace the fan.
They will not check to see if the card has been overclocked beyond it's limits, or check for damage by people handling the card with inadequate ESD protection.

As for the warranty, yeah, they may replace it, but that's just more hassle that people could do without.

To be honest I wouldn't buy any second hand/refurb compter hardware, and I've been an accredited desktop H/W technician for 9 years.

I've had a couple of XFX cards and I've not been too impressed to be honest. Their standard cards don't see to OC much and the fans are loud as hell. Not voted on this deal either way.

I've got the Palit Nvidia 8800GTS at the moment. 640MB.

Is this going to be much better than what I've got? Seriously fallen out of touch with graphics cards.
