Just what I needed to replace a dead stick in a HP laptop. 1GB makes XP run sooooooo much better than 512MB. Was thinking of putting a big RAM stick in but £5 to bring it up to original spec is too cheap to miss.

Seems good value. Although I imagine this is priced to clear as 1GB or 2GB modules are probably the ones in demand with people trying to maximise their system RAM.

Unlikely as I think from googling that it takes DDR ram (PC2100 or 2700) and not DDR2 ram. Sadly this is also more expensive than the newer stuff

If your laptop says Intel Core (Single or Duo) or an AMD X2 processor on the box it will near definitely be the right memory. Safest way to check is by going to Crucial website and running a compatibility app to see if a similar module is recommended.

Mmm. This is the memory I have in it at the moment - 512 MB PC2100 DDR SODIMM (2 memory slots. Max 1GB) * - according to the following website:- http://www.uktsupport.co.uk/advent/laptop/7014.htm

Is it going to work do you think?

(I can't find the 7014 model in the Crucial Memory Selector Tool - only the 7013 is the nearest)

Oh well - too late to cancel my order with play.com

If anyone wants this from me, let me know. Just pay me what I paid and I'll ship it out to you.

richlyraumi, your laptop will definitely not take the stick so please don't try to install it as you may damage the RAM. Unforunately your laptop (judging by what you said) will only take DDR memory modules. DDR2 and DDR have different amounts of pins, so are incompatible with each other.

DDR memory is used by older systems, but you will also find that it is more expensive than DDR2 !!

The 512mb ones, I couldn't give these away. I'm always pulling them out of old laptops and I can never sell them on.

Anyone who PM's me can have :

2 x 256mb DDR2 SO-Dimms
2 x 512mb DDR2 SO-Dimms

50p each stick to cover postage.

K.

that ram is 533mhz which is slower. Also the delivery is £3.12!
