Black Baby BiOrb 15 Aquarium with Halogen Light £39.95 @ Warehouse-Aquatics

£39.95

FOUND BY: lord_trumpington 2 months, 1 week ago

Having read previous comments on here about BiOrbs I know that they are not everybody's cup of tea. However this looks like an excellent deal for a BiOrb product and is significantly cheaper than anywhere else I've found (£59.95 seems to be the average selling price out there for these). Standard deilvery for this product is £4.95 (although other delivery options are available).

Details as follows:

The new Baby biOrb combines the look of a traditional fish bowl with the performance of a 'hi-tech' aquarium, and in a size that will suit a childs bedroom or an office desktop. For maintenance you can simply use all standard sized Biorb service and maintenance kits

Available in silver or black (Silver is/was £42.90), halogen light, ceramic media, air pump, 12v transformer, water treatment, fish food and full instructions. Just add water and fish!

Suitable for small breeds of fish. Its 15 litre capacity is half that of the original biOrb, but still gives fish 5 times more room than in a standard fish bowl. Measuring 300mm dia by 320mm tall, the globe is manufactured from easily maintained Plexiglas acrylic, and comes complete with an easy to change 5 stage filtration system and a low voltage halogen light unit to provide illumination, assisting with plant growth and bringing out the true colours of the fish.

Yep it's a bowl but still a great find. It does come with more than a goldfish.

Anyway, I do believe the aeriation of these bowls are not so good.

How would I know, I'm not a fish!

What on Earth does that mean? How big is a 'standard fishbowl' then? Looks like something you put fairground goldfish in to ensure they die quicker than normal.

I've noted that BiOrbs have received quite negative feedback in the past, so I was interested to see what this one would generate. I have been looking for a fish tank for my Son, and my research suggests this is a good deal. However, that is not to say that the BiOrb is the panacea of all fish tanks but this deal does open up the BiOrbs to the bottom end of the market!

As far as whether these 'bowl's provide a good environment for the fish I wouldn't have a clue, though I suspect that a fish would argue against being confined to any fish tank given the choice!

It's all to do with the surface area which is why bowls are such a problem.

Warehouse aquatics are absolutely rubbish, I had a Juwel aquarium and stand delivered off them. The aquarium was sent 5 days late and then was sent to the wrong address as well, which added another 2 days onto delivery. The stand was sent late too as it took over a week to get from the manufacturer even though they had said 3 days. This then arrived broken, I had to send it back and got another one sent out once they had received the broken one. This one then arrived broken too even though I had asked them to check it before being sent. Then they didn't have anymore in stock, so I got a refund and went elsewhere. Absolutely shoddy service, for an aquarium which should have taken a week to receive, it took about 3 weeks in total to get my money back after-wards. I would highly recommend not buying from them!

Also check prices at Pets at home or petsmart not sure which one, they had 25% off all fish tanks, cant remember the price of this style but they seemed reasonable. The week before this offer I paid £26.99 for a pink plastic mermaid tank (9 year old choice). Bought 2 goldfish. One lasted 15 hours the other one 4 weeks. At £3.99 each was not impressed.

Pets at home are doing the silver version of this for £44 (20% off) at the moment - it'll give you a chance to see if you're happy with it as well.

P@H are notorious for their short lived fish. Might just be that they have a larger share of new fish owners who don't prepare the tank properly, but I'd try and find an alternative to buy the fish if you can.
