Well there is, as the 5 series cards start at minimum 3 times the price!

Cant see a 4850 which will run all the latest games on more than decent settings going for much less than £70 anytime in the near future.

It's a deal for this spec and version, which is hot. Heat added.

but thanks for the info ref. the newer spec coming shortly, this helps us make informed decisions.

Since I heard about 3D gaming I lost all interest in ATI cards. Don't get me wrong ATI are fantastics cards but unless they come up with something similar to NVIDIA 3D vision or better I will be on the green side. I currently have an NVIDIA 8800GT which is the oldest card that work with the 3D Vision, I am just waiting for a bigger 120hz monitor (22' is too small for me).

9800GTX is the top of the range of the 9000 series so you shuold go for the top of the range of the 4000 series (i.e. the 4890 or 4870). I think for you the upgrade is not that great so not worth it in my opinion. In fact I am almost sure that if any it would be a downgrade or you will stay the same

This guide should give you a better idea

Well I think it has hit it's bottom. As TSMC cuts back on RV770 and RV790 fabrication to make way for the new 5 series GPU's then this will stabilise the price and already you may have noticed a price rise on the 4870 and 4890's in the last week. However it is expected that the price of DDR3 and DDR5 is still expected to drop a little.
