disappointed with hotdeals :(

POSTED BY: eslick 2 months, 1 week ago

Have to say that I have been with hotdeals for a couple of years and love the site but now thinking about leaving as I just dont get it anymore.

Found a deal and posted it last night,

http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/480536/national-trust-3-months-free-member

it got moved to misc and after some discussion was told to bump it to get it back to deals by a mod. reposted it as couldnt figure out the bumping and it got lots of heat and lots of comments but has now disappeared.

No idea what is going on, true its cash back but a quick search shows loads of quidco cash back for the same deal. Problem is that its not quidco now but topcashback so why one rule for one and not the other.

At the end of the day its a deal, 3 months free and cash back and the charity gets more visitors so you cant argue with that but for some reason hotdeals doesnt like it :(

Thank you for your post. I've checked & there is an earlier existing post by another member for this same offer & it's that post that can be bumped, rather than relisting another Duplicate.

http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/45341...ip-national-t/

I think there has been some confusion over which post remains. Hope that helps clarify the situation.

I thought reposts (if the previous thread was over one month old) were allowed?

:
Some guidelines for a repost are:

1. If the product has dropped in price by at least £1.00
2. If a thread is at least one month old.
3. If specific changes or information for a product has increased its value.
4. If the product goes out of stock, expired and you are unable to back order it, but it has been restocked within at least one week.

Because it is the same ongoing offer for the National Trust, in this case after a review it was decided to keep the original listing. There are a number of similar posts which involve the same type of ongoing voucher code / subscription offer where we'll keep the original thread as a repost isn't required.

Also cashback offers aren't included in deals, so we compare the actual deal listing (3 month subscription) not the various cashback offers available. Thanks.

well still disappointed, this could have been a very hot deal that no one knew about and the charity would have been happy as well but if thats the rules then its a poor process.

on csimans comments, loads of people take a deal due to the cash back involved you just have to look at the quidco £20 deal from last year to see that. Dont use top cash back myself prefer quidco but at the end of the day someone would take this out when they wouldnt normally do and this would help the charity which needs all of the cash they can get.

If you vote on the original listing it will help push its temperature towards the 'Hot' page & if you post in the thread it will bump that thread to the top of the 'Misc' tab. The listing is there & you can still promote the good cause on the existing thread.

yeah I know but we dont want to have duplicate deals all being posted with different cashback sites used in each deal. Its bad enough already with people using littlewoods vouchers to post zillions of LW deals using the same voucher.

it would ruin the site, hence why your post was removed I reckon

they might take it because of it, however no cashback is 100% guaranteed and thus cannot be deemed part of the 'deal' per se.

the deal has to be good enough without the cashback, as the cashback is not guaranteed, it is fine to add the cashback into the post, it is annoying when all the catalogue codes for new users are added into the deal, without that it isnt a great deal so same thing really

I'd imagine if the original was for topcashback and the new one was with Quidco, this thread wouldn't exist!

Does this now mean the one month rule has gone and rather than repost all the original deals should now be bumped or does this new ruling only apply in this case as the original deal involves quidco?

/\
This.

But as cashback offers aren't included in deals (see post #5) it shouldn't matter if the previous deal involved Quidco. Can't see any reason why it couldn't be reposted tbh, it's what the rules say to do (as the old thread was over a month old)
