Dealing with suspensions in the trade section.

POSTED BY: BeemerMad 2 months, 1 week ago

I believe a new rule should be in place when dealing with violations in the sale section.

if a trade has clearly taken place and money has passed hands but a mod sees the sale as worthy of an infraction or suspension then this should be done AFTER the deal has been finalised with the buyer.

The mods should contact the buyer, explain to them that they must let them know when they receive the item and are happy. Then they can pursue the seller and take any action.

I believe that suspending a seller immediately after they have been paid a wad of money could disgruntle them and lead to them doing a disappearing act.

It can happen, some members may get peed off, especially if they only have a few feedback and a fairly new member.

There is no harm in letting the deal complete then taking action, it is safer for the buyer, after all they need protecting in these circumstances and suspending members while they have another members money is not the correct way to go about things.

Your thought son this matter?

A simple rule to rewrite and put into action if the mods/admin would look into it.

If they've done something wrong, they should be suspended. What happens if it takes 3-4 days to get the item to you, but in that time they break a load more rules?

As long as you've followed the FS guidelines and got their full contact details (landline number etc) there shouldn't be a problem

the buyer needs to protect themselves by following the guidelines, so shall we do this also with the known scammers, wait till they ripped off 100s of members whilst members wait for their items

As already advised, you should be obtaining secondary contact details, phone number etc before exchanging funds.
Members breaching forum rules will be suspended at the time of the offence, not at a later date.

Following the guide lines means naff and you know it.

If a person lives in Aberdeen and I live in Birmingham what monkeys do the guidelines do? I have been ripped off on Ebay more than once, has buyer protection, full name and address etc, and so what? They withdraw their PayPal funds and ignore all contact. Not worth the small claims court because if the person has bad credit in the first place they will just laugh at you.

So can they not tell the seller they have a temp seller suspension in place and not a full suspension? At least this way the member is still a member of the forum and will not feel so peed off about being kicked off the site?

What I am saying that suspending a member can upset them and some may take it the wrong way, especially if they have a load of cash in the bank. They may just decide to call it a day on the site.

But if they are given a just a warning and a trader suspension for a short while but keep them on the site then that would soften the blow and hopefully never give them any second thought about giving up the site.

Oh and thanks for looking after your members by warning them that if they have not yet paid then do not do so as the member is about to be suspended!!

Not even an email to tell me they have been suspended.

Again, pathetic.

No one is making you buy stuff from here.... if long-distance sales (and possible risks that go with them) cause you such a concern, don't do them

what do you suggest, the mods look through every thread ofthe suspended member and email everyone, jeeze you dont want much, if people are gona rip you off they gonna rip you off, naff all to do with a suspension, maybe you should look into the said members threads, or check the rules, you may not care about them but it may help you not trade with someone who is gonna get suspended for breaking them

Jesus you lot are unreal. Of course no one is making me buy from here, but no one told me they were suspending someone with MY MONEY!!!

It is ok to suspend someone and sod the person who has just paid them!! Thanks a lot!!

Why can't they just suspend them from trading until the buyer has informed the mods of safe delivery of the item? You clearly in this case are not looking after my best interests.

And again, why no message or warning from the mods? Totally wrong way to run a forum!!

If you got all the details from the seller , ie postal address, landline number etc you wouldn't have to worry whether they have been suspended surely?

Look through said thread? The member had 70+ feedback, how the heck do I know they are going to get suspended?

Also why not warn me?

And why the heck would the mods have to trail through a thread?

Only one item for sale and obviously the final few posts are the clincher.

And anyway, if it were a long thread, why shoudl a mod not go through it? that is what they are there for, flipping heck what are you on?

If u had followed the guidelines you'd have other means of contacting the seller to sort it out, have a joke about the mods suspending them etc, and there wouldn't be a problem..

so you sent £137 without getting any other details?
http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/48191...b-2g-unlocked/

high feedback or not I would have got all the details

Why is there suspicion that you may have been scammed anyway, transaction only happened last night

Its not the mods responsibility, all trades are at your own risk,if you want protection use ebay

Read the thread please, that means nothing, what I am on about is the incentive for a member to do a runner with a lot of money BECAUSE they have been suspended.

That is my main point here, it does not matter what details I have on them, the point most members will not do a runner and I am certain my sale will be fine, BUT my point it some mebers WILL get peed off for being booted AND do a runner with the money.

it can and will happen if it does not get sorted.

And again, you are all dodging a main point (you can tell site fans a mile off), why did I not get a warning not to pay the person or even told about the suspension?

Once a sale has been agreed you are allowed to contact the buyer through the external details you would have obtained as previously highlighted (eg give them a call etc):

http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/48230...66&postcount=9

We can only advise members as to the correct sales process, but if they do not follow the guidelines & fail to obtain contact details then unfortunately they will need to wait until the relevant suspension has ended before contacting their seller via PM. Once a rule has been breached we also update the relevant sales thread & would advise buyers to check there as well until sales are completed.

Oh so we are just referring to your deal, just this member, not anyone esle, you want the rules changed just for you and who you trade with? Memebers on here can have more than one for sale thread running, they could have deals going on in 20 threads, 30 threads, if you had known the rules you would not have paid as you where clearly informed by t0mm he was profiteering, the rules also clearly state you cannot use hukd to profiteer, take reponsibility for yourself rather than trying to blame everyone else
