Sod's law as I bought this last week!

Still a good deal though, as I've been able to get back a DVD, which had scratches in it and wouldn't play on the TV.

Also; DVDShrink (google it) - freeware, smaller install footprint, allows authoring to strip menus, audio and subtitles and re-compress the DVD to fit on a single layer disk.

I have an mpeg2 video file which I want converting to a VCD so it can play onto a dvd player and burn it also... Can anyone help with this?

1) I agree DVDshrink is excellent for copying disks. But what it produces is a (optionally single-) disk image (i.e. all the .IFO and VOB files). Great for burning to a disk, not so good for computer (and media player) use. This ripper can convert to a variety of file formats (such as AVI). Good for putting things onto my navigo GPS device for example. Handbrake is also good, but this is easier to use.

However

2) having just tried it, it appears to hard code subtitles into the resulting file. Not good, and I cannot find any way of turning that off. I can find options to change default subtitle language, but no more thanthat. Any one any ideas.

My dvd player plays divx so I use the standard divX burner from divx.com to burn onto CD or DVD, also use their converter to convert to divX if not already.

What are the additional benefits/advantages to this program over the above?
