A couple of quid more than the Novatech deal that was here a few weeks ago...
Seems to outperform the HD4850 in benchmarks which is ~£74 and on the Hot page at the moment. Not sure what improvement the 4850's 1GB vs 512GB will be, though.

The performance of this card is just a bit slower than a 512MB 8800 GT and therefore much slower than a 4850. You may be thinking of a 4830. An OK deal. It's definitely worth the extra money to go for a 4850 instead.

There won't be many benchmarks in which this outperform the 4850? To my understanding the 4850 is better than the 8800GT and about equivalent to the 250GTX. Both are better performers than the 9600GT.

To be honest, I wouldn't recommend getting any card right now. New cards will be coming out from ATI very soon and they look pretty amazing so far with around double the performance of the current cards. The prices for the current gen cards will drop like a rock.

Ah my bad. Serves me right for just looking at the UT3 results! (512mb vs 512mb). The rest there's a 15 -20 different in fps rates

Actually it look like the supply of current cards is drying up and rather than current cards being cheaper they are actually going to be hard to find,

There are always some games that prefer Nvidia and some ATI. When possible the best bet is to look at the reviews and see which one performs best in the games you play.

With regards the price drops and new cards I think the 48xx series has dropped a lot of it's price already in anticipation. It will obviously continue to go down, but it will probably just be the usual 5%-10% a month that you get with any gaming card. At most there will be a 15% month as the 5xxx series start to be widely available. The new cards will probably start at around £150 so they are still out of many buyers budgets regardless of how good they are.

There's never a right time to buy a 3d card - buy one when you think its a good deal,
theres ALWAYS something new on the horizon in the pc world and you'll nearly always end up losing a small fortune, you'll just end up faffing around for months getting more and more confused finally buy one - then 2 months later a new one will 'be in the pipline' or a gtx/gtxxx/gti version with more ram/quicker ram.
I've given up trying to keep up
