Yes, I believe it needs an AC power adapter (which is included), assuming its the same as http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hitachi-S100.../ref=de_a_smtd

how is it a good price whn its £1 cheaper at amazon and amazon is better than dabs? I dont get this forum the amazon deal is obviously better yet this gets more heat!
