Tragic story: boy died after banging head in Somerfield

POSTED BY: silkymolo 2 months, 12 hours ago

http://uk.news.yahoo.com/5/20090923/tuk-boy-four-dies-in-somerfield-supermar-45dbed5.html

Really heartbreaking, I would be devastated but cannot believe the family are suing Somerfield!! Well I can, and I know this sounds really harsh but surely some of the blame lies with the kids Mum? He was technically unattended when it happened. Before there is a plague of people calling me heartless I just don't think all the blame should lie with Somerfield, it's not like something dropped off a shelf onto him, if that were the case I would whole heartedly agree with screwing them for every penny!!

I know you cannot watch your kids every second but when in public places I have my 3 year old by my side, holding baby buggy, or holding my hand, and if I do give him freedom to be a bit away from me he does not start messing with stuff (I stop him if he does) because I don' t want him to get injured! (and he would because he is by far the clumsiest child I have ever met!)

I remember when my son was 3 I took him and his wee friend into MacDonalds and he fell downstairs, knocked himself out - was awful - but it was completely my fault as he was/is my responsibility.

I think the parents are so overcome with grief they just need to point the finger of blame at someone.

So they are suing them for negligence, as they believe the railings shouldn't be there.

But if there are no railings at the front of the store, this can happen:

Sounds like it was an accident to me....can't see how it can be the store's fault at all.

sad story ..but to be honest im surprised more kids arent hurt in supermarkets...when i worked in them a saw loads of tots left in the trolleys while mum was checking out the chickens..completley oblivious to their kids trying to climb out ....this was a tragic accident ,not somerfields fault at all...i dont let me daughter run around asda and swing on things.

Bet the parents are wringing their hands with glee profiting on their son's death.......heartless and moronic whether grieving or not
