My laptop suffers from constant CPU spikes. Even in idle state, it runs at around 40-50%. When I use a browser, it shoots up to 100%. I've tried IE, FF, Opera, K-Meleon, and the problem persists. Tried Flashblock in FF, but that doesn't seem to do change much. Disabled all add-ons in FF, but still no joy.
Ran Defrag, scanned the system with Spybot, Ad-aware, McAfee VirusScan and they haven't found anything.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
System is running XP SP3. It's a Dell 620 with 1GB Ram. Centrino Duo 1.8Ghz.
