Considering there aren't any buttons on the unit, I can only hope that it comes with a remote, otherwise it would be pretty impossible to use

Looks like it does come with remote, have a look at ebay item 270450921533 for more pics of the unit.

Am i right in thinking that i dont need an external decoder for the DTS, like the Western Digital HD media player?

I'm expecting a WD Media Player tomorrow... maybe I should have waited?!

There's a PDF manual from their site here. No software or updates on there yet, as with all Media Players the firmware support and regular updates is essential... Not sure about this yet as no reviews out there yet. Looks nice though... like a Apple TV remote and Dell hybrid!

Intrigued with this unit- is it on a par with the popcorn hour ? Was going to get a PCH when the price drops a bit more. It looks like it uses TVERSITY to stream from your PC also.

Would be interested to know if it can stream using Twonky? and if you attach USB HDD can you read write to it using the USB / Ethernet on the Hisense.

Would probably buy if it can.

Anybody got any experience of getting a refund from Expansys? Long Distance Selling Regs and all if it doesn't suit my purposes.

Afraid not, but Realmedia files aren't general encoded over 720P.

For proper 1080P HD you' need to watch MKV / MP4's on this.

This Hisense MP800H is one of the early RealTek 1073 chipset mediaplayer.
The latest RealTek 1073 chipset mediaplayer I know is Himedia HD300D which support more media file format (e.g Blueray-ISO) and a build in DVD driver which can play your old dvd on it.
Now I was a bit regret bought a RCA L10 which similar with the Hisense MP800H from ebay months ago.

Here is taiwan webpage which full of testing this kinds of mediaplayer, there is quite alot photo of the player in it.

it's uPNP/ DNLA, which means that if you have enable WMP11 media sharing on your WHS then it should work fine.
I use PS3 media server on my WHS box rather than WMP11 as it encodes mkv on the fly, although that shouldn't be need here as that box plays mkv natively.
