Hi, just seen this on the Currys site, I know this is a refurb but I think for the price you can't go wrong. It has a fast Intel core 2 duo processor, 3GB Memory and large 250GB Hard Drive. I've had refurbished laptops before and they look like new and come with a years warranty, correct me if this is different.

I would much rather brand new and something a little bit better for a fraction of the cost - http://www.ebuyer.com/product/169123

Nice spec for the price here, these shops have a reputation to uphold so they wont give out tat, the 12 month warranty shows that.

I bought a Dell 1545 from the outlet site (possibly the source of these machines???) The machine operates ok, but you can clearly see the scren has been replaced - the grille between the keyboard and screen is ill-fitting and damaged. I've spent 2 weeks trying to get Dell to solve the problem but they are incredibly unhelpful. I think they are just hoping I'll "go away"!!!

I'm not saying don't buy refurbished Dell machines, I'm just saying be prepared, not all are "like new"!!!!

I can't speak for the website, but I used to work in one of the Currys retail stores, Faulty goods were often repaired by unqualified part time staff in the warehouse and then sold as professionally refurbished.

I would never buy anything refurbished from Currys!

Was it discribed as "as new" or "scratch and dent"

It's still a fraction - it's just that the fraction is 40/33

thats where you have to be carefull with dell outlet, "refurbished machines" are like new, but "Scratch and Dent" show signs of repair or slight damage...

saying that, I bought a "scratch and Dent" inspiron 1545 from them last month with 3gb ram and 250gb hd which cost me £230 delivered.... and all I could see was a small chip about 1mm long on the side of the gloss blue cover... if you were not looking hard you would never have spotted it....

I bought it for a friend, it was a L300-1AS or L300-7xx, i can't really remember. I think it was on sale because of the pressure from the new intel platform and netbooks 4-5 months ago.

The machine I bought from Dell Outlet was not a "scratch and dent" it was an "as new" machine. Definately not as new, and so far no sign of it being repaired - it's been 3 weeks now!!!
