I agree with your sentiments on ink cartridges, Lexmak is a real culprit for it however. I feel that Epson and HP ink costs aren't too bad for official ones anyway.

Maybe Canon's are an exception but I've had a few Epson , Brother, Kodak, Olivetti makes and they always clog with non standard. I'm sticking with proper from now on.

Nevertheless, fifty quid for a printer which is £86 on amazon is a good deal.

i bought the hp6410 printer on amazon 9 months ago for 80.00 so 85.00 rrp for this garbage is a joke...the hp is a duplex printer and has fax too....so you save on paper cost and environment

What a ridiculous statement!! From personal experience Lexmarks are of poor build quality, give poor print quality and are hyper-expensive to run - I'm NOT going to vote a crap printer hot just because I can't find it cheaper elsewhere!!

Surely, the purpose of this site is to help others to spend their money wisely, not encourage them to flush it down the crapper...

Re clone cartridges - with a lot of printers it is cheaper to run with clones even if you chuck the thing away after a few months. For Epson Inkjets may I recommend the very useful and free SSC service utility. http://www.ssclg.com/epsone.shtml

Must use for the exact model - not available for very latest. Use with care - head cleaning is available for individual colours and other choices. Some options are a bit tucked away - right click logo on taskbar.

Its not a ridiculous statement. I'm saying just dont bother voting... turn a blind eye. If its a brand that doesnt interest you because you've have a bad experience or dont believe in it, then leave it alone. Don't force your judgements based on your own personal experience on others.

If I listened to everyone on here who slates iPhones, or of the many other things I've bought after ignoring one-sided arguments, I'd never find out the benefits of some of these products for myself.

I'm sure that the idea of the site is for people to post deals that have a significant reduction from RRP to help others. Someone out there may have a really high opinion of lexmarks, for example, based on their own experience, NOT YOURS, and they'll be really chuffed that this deal has been pointed out.

A mate of mine owns a computer shop and he said that Lexmark contacted him and said if he stocks their ink they will give him the printers free, as they make more money from the ink than the printers, he only stocks Epson compatible ink and he sell loads every week.

(1) In virtually every listing for every product or service, HUKD users have added to the discussion with personal opinions and experiences; some are positive and some negative. Are you right and everyone else wrong?

(2) So you're quite happy for users to give positive advice about a product, but not negative? Does this not in itself lead to the one-sided argument that you protest about?

(3) ...and I'm sure that you're wrong. The HUKD 'How it Works' section states that "The purpose of the site is to escape from the marketing messages and ads that surround us and get GENUINE ADVICE from other people about hot deals." No mention there about limiting ones' comments to price savings or positive-only propaganda...

(4) ...and, should they wish, those who have "a really high opinion of Lexmarks" are at liberty to explain the counter-argument by adding their own comments that extol the virtues of this particular brand!

To sum up, do you think this item is currently at -68 degrees because lots of users have all found the printer at a cheaper price elsewhere, or do they just think it's a crap printer ...? How about you stop pontificating about how YOU want people to use the site and let us use it the way as it is actually intended to be used.
